Department of Turkish Language Education
The main aim of the Department of Turkish Language Education is to lead the developments in this field by generating knowledge on the education of Turkish as a mother tongue and its teaching as a second language, and to train Turkish teachers needed by educational institutions. Our department fulfills its public responsibility by training Turkish teachers who can use contemporary language teaching methods, are open to continuous development, have universal values and competencies of teaching, and have a national and international solidarity consciousness in preserving and developing these values and competencies.
The Department of Turkish Language Education offers undergraduate courses. There is also a Master's Program in the department. The language of instruction for field courses and non-field courses (professional general culture courses) in the department is Turkish and the duration of study is 4 years. The program includes compulsory, field knowledge, teaching profession knowledge, general culture and application courses. In addition, there are elective courses in general culture, field education and professional knowledge in the program. Courses are conducted theoretically and practically. Theoretical courses are given in technology-supported environments. Practical courses are carried out in two semesters under the supervision of the application instructor and the application teacher in cooperation with the Faculty of Education, Provincial Directorate of National Education and Practice Schools.
Students graduate as Turkish teachers by successfully fulfilling the curriculum and graduation requirements. Graduates can work as teachers in public and private institutions and they can also pursue an academic career in related departments.
The academic staff of the department consists of 3 professors, 3 doctorate faculty members and 1 research assistant.
